Buffalo’s storage items are popular with homeowners and small companies since they’re affordable and reliable. They lose data like other storage devices.

Buffalo External Hard Drive File Recovery?

The procedures to restore data from Buffalo external data storage vary per model.

Buffalo provides both Mini Station external hard drives and Drive Station Network-attached Storage (NAS) devices that secure data by integrating numerous drives into one RAID array. Drive Station Quad supports up to four hard drives, allowing you to simply create a RAID 0, 1, 5, or 10 array.

Most data recovery software can recover Mini Station external hard drives, but only specialized tools can recover Drive Station RAID arrays. Individually recovering each RAID drive requires a solution that supports the right file system or RAW recovery (ignoring the file system and concentrating on data).

Data Recovery from Buffalo External Hard Drive

Let’s start with Buffalo external hard drive data recovery on Windows 10/11 using BLR Tools Data Recovery (macOS instructions are below).

BLR Tools is one of the best data recovery apps for Buffalo external hard drives because it supports all common file systems (FAT16 / FAT32, exFAT, NTFS / NTFS5, HFS / HFS+, APFS, ReFS, ext2 / ext3 / ext4) and has a simple data recovery process with only a few steps:

  • Install BLR Tools on your system drive.
  • Connect your Buffalo Mini Station external HDD to your PC.
  • Select the external hard disk in BLR Tools and click Search for lost data.
  • Once BLR Tools finishes scanning, click Review identified objects.
  • Select missing files. Use BLR Tools preview and filters to restrict scan results.
  • Click restore to restore Buffalo external data storage files.
  • Select your system drive or another compatible storage device as the recovery location and click Next.

Buffalo NAS Drive Data Recovery

This section describes how to recover files from Buffalo Drive Station, Tera Station, and Link Station NAS disks using direct and indirect techniques.

Because BLR Tools supports RAID0, RAID1, RAID5, RAID6, and RAID10 arrays and RAW recovery, we will show each way utilizing it for NAS and external hard drive data recovery.

Buffalo NAS Direct Data Recovery

Buffalo NAS direct data recovery:

  • USB-connect the Buffalo NAS to your PC.
  • Install and run BLR Tools.
  • Select the NAS and click Find lost data.
  • Queue missing files for recovery.
  • Click Recover and choose a location.

Search NAS Hard Drives

File retrieval from NAS drives:

  • Dismount and attach all Buffalo NAS hard drives to your PC.
  • Install and start BLR Tools.
  • Search for lost data on your first disk.
  • Finding as many missing files as possible.
  • Choose a location and click Recover.
  • Replicate 1–5 for the remaining drives.
